Calf size markers and a stopper allow the length of the tube to be adjusted for optimum placement. The mouthpiece and tube are easily held in the calf's mouth with one hand. With the other hand, the ergonomic 4 litre milk bottle can be held up to allow the colostrum or electrolytes to flow down the tube and safely into the calf's stomach. The Trusti-Tuber has a clip on the side of the bottle to secure the mouthpiece and keep it off the floor, and the transparency of the tube allows for easier cleaning. The Trusti Tuber was developed in New Zealand by veterinarian Ursula Haywood. She noticed that farmers were often reluctant to drench at calves. It is simple to hold in place with one hand, saving time and effort and can be used for calves up to 200kg. 1) Position the mouthpiece so that the round protective ring sits comfortably against the calf’s nose. Hold both the mouthpiece and chin with one hand to easily guide the tube. 2) Slide the flexible tube through the mouthpiece so that it is safely inserted into the oesophagus. 3) Raise the bottle to allow the fluid to flow. Ensure that the calf’s head and neck remain above the stomach. Make sure the tube does not come out of the esophagus when fluid is inserted.
